Know before you go:

A weekly hiking pass is required to access the Nootka Trail. Passes can be purchased online or with cash in Yuquot. You’ll also need to arrange boat or floatplane access to the trailheads, with most visitors starting or ending at Yuquot (Friendly Cove). Check local water taxi services out of Gold River or Tahsis for access details.

With trails suited to every skill level, the park is home to some of the most breathtaking scenery on Vancouver Island. For a rewarding intermediate hike, the Elk River Trail offers a 22-kilometre round-trip journey that takes roughly 10 hours, ideal for experienced hikers. If you’re after something shorter, the Lady Falls Trail is a scenic 600-metre walk through the forest that leads to a stunning waterfall.
