Strathcona Wilderness Institute
The Strathcona Wilderness Institute (SWI) is a non-profit society promoting responsible use of Strathcona Provincial Park’s wilderness areas. In partnership with BC Parks and the Friends of Strathcona Park, we facilitate a co-operative effort to assure support for continuing education and park stewardship.
Our two centres located at Buttle Hut (at Buttle Lake), and Strathcona Park Wilderness Centre (at Paradise Meadows on Forbidden Plateau) help inform visitors about Trails & Natural History, Lead Interpretive Walks & Hikes, produce Educational Talks & Workshops, create Educational Signs & Interpretive Maps, and offers a TrailRider Program for those with mobility restrictions.
